IRISL subsidiary to launch Caspian Sea services

Tehran: IRISL wholly owned subsidiary Khazar Shipping Line (KSL) has signed an agreement with Iran's Trade Development Organization to launch two new container services from Iran to the Caspian Sea.

"The plan aims to transfer Iranian goods from the ports of Anzali and Amirabad in the provinces of Gilan and Golestan to the ports of Aktau and Astarakhan in Kazakhstan and Russia on a regular basis every two weeks," said Mehdi Ghazanfari, the head of the Trade Development Organization of Iran.

The company will service the ports once every two weeks using its fleet of six small dry bulk and general cargo vessels. In addition to the Russian market, the new services are also expected to help Iran penetrate the Kyrgyzstani and Uzbekistani markets.  [08/10/07]
