IRISL to use Euros in foreign transactions

IRISL to use Euros in foreign transactions

Tehran: Mohammad Hussein Dajmar, md of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line (IRISL), has announced that the company will now use euros when issuing proforma (model) invoices for shipment of commodities. The change of currency from the dollar, effective as of Monday, was due to a recent order by the Iranian government to transform the state's foreign assets into Euros and use the European currency in foreign transactions. Mr Dajmar has asked that the Iranian Government adopt a policy that assures local businessmen of support should the Euro drop in value. He also added that IRISL would be willing to issue proforma invoices in other currencies if requested to do so.  [02/01/07]
