Mumbai: The Group Information Division of Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has opened a new ISS Development Centre (IDC) in Mumbai to act as its in-house software developer.
"One of the key technological challenges over the past five years has been the development of software," says group information director Bryan Phillips, pictured here in the new office with IDC general manager Kasi Wiswanathan. 'Significant investment has gone into developing industry leading technologies. Now that has been achieved the challenge is to ensure continued delivery and improvement to the existing product line as well as development of new technologies."
In particular the new IDC has taken over support of the company's flagship software 'YourISS', a solution for managing all operational and financial aspects of a port call that is customisable according to a Principal's requirements. Phillips describes this as "a large application with a large customer base' which was becoming impractical to continue managing on an outsourced basis. [15/06/07]
