Chinese shipbuilding company Jiangnan Shipyard Group has inked a shipbuilding contract with Exmar for two LNG-fuelled 86,000 cu m gas carriers.

The two environmentally-friendly newbuildings are scheduled for delivery within the second and third quarter of 2021 respectively.

The two LPG carriers will be deployed for Exmar’s long-term worldwide LPG transportation commitments for Norway's Equinor.

Exmar originally inked the two 79,500 cu m LPG carriers building contract with Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction in Subic Bay (Philippines) for delivery in the third quarter of 2020. However, the Hanjin shipyard applied for bankruptcy earlier this year, Exmar had to find another shipyard to build the LPG carriers.
