The Chinese shipyard announced on its website that the order is for two firm ships, with options for six additional units. The first newbuilding delivery is planned for November 2017.
The LR1 product tankers will be designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (Sdari).
To date, Hantong has an orderbook to build 15 LR1 product tankers.
