Kaohsiung becomes 9th LME port in Asia

Kaohsiung becomes 9th LME port in Asia
The London Metal Exchange (LME) has approved Taiwan's Kaohsiung port as its ninth physical delivery port for commodities in Asia, according to local news reports.

The Taiwanese port joins Singapore, Nagoya, Yokohama, Busan, Gwangyang, Incheon, Johor and Port Klang as delivery points in Asia primarily for aluminium, aluminium alloy, copper, lead, nickel, tin and zinc, the seven commodities the LME has contracts in.

Kaohsiung is the first Asian city in Asia to be added to LME's delivery location list since Malaysia's Port Klang was added in 2009.

It is expected to help in the delivery of metal to users in mainland China, where there are currently no LME warehouses. It is hoped the LME will be allowed to set up warehouses on the mainland soon.
