The jackup rig will incorporate dual cantilevers to optimise drilling operations within a limited time window. The rig is also capable of 14-day self-sustaining operations and is resistant to impacts from ice floes. The joint design project is expected to be completed by end 2013.
“The features of this jackup rig make it a cost-effective and promising drilling solution for the Arctic Offshore,” said Foo Kok Seng, centre director for KOMtech, an arm of Keppel Offshore & Marine.
