Keppel readies two more FPSOs for Prosafe

Singapore: Keppel Shipyard reports that its FPSO Polvo conversion (pictured) for Prosafe Production is set to leave the yard later this month for deployment to offshore Brazil in the Polvo Field. It will be quickly followed by a second unit for the same owner, Umoroa, due to deliver in March, which will then be deployed to the Tui Area Development in New Zealand for Australian Worldwide Exploration Limited.

FPSO Umuroa will have a process capacity to handle 120,000 bfpd, with oil production at 50,000 bopd, gas compression at 25 mmscfd and a storage cap of 770,000 barrels of oil. First oil is expected in the second quarter of 2007.

Umuroa is the eighth FPSO/FSO conversion and upgrading project that Keppel Shipyard has undertaken for Prosafe in the last ten year. Prosafe has entrusted all its FPSO and FSO conversions to Keppel Shipyard

Prosafe SE president and ceo Arne Austreid paid tribute to the working relationship at yesterday's Umuroa naming ceremony. "I would like to thank Keppel for delivering yet another high quality FPSO, and for doing a great job in a very busy market," he said. "We appreciate the efforts that have been made in order to keep the project manned up at all times. Prosafe will this year convert at least two additional vessels in this shipyard, and will thereby continue and strengthen its longstanding relationship with Keppel." [15/02/07]
