Seoul: Marine electronics manufacturer Kongsberg Maritime Korea (KMK) has officially opened the doors of its new Korean headquarters (pictured) in Jungkwan, in South Korea. The new, 5-storey building is fully owned by KMK and was commissioned and designed to fit the expanding needs of the company.
"It's exciting to see the completion and the official opening of the new KMK headquarters," said Torfinn Kildal, president & ceo of parent KMK company Kongsberg Maritime. "This area is the most important and advanced shipbuilding area in the world and we are all impressed by the competence and dedication of the Korean Marine and Shipbuilding Industry. Kongsberg has been part of this industry since 1981, which is something we are very proud of."
KMK has built the new office in response to an increase in demand for navigation and automation solutions in the region. "We need to carry out more work locally in order to match Korean shipyards' ever improving productivity and to reduce lead times from contract to delivery," said KMK president Steinar Gran. "The new premises in Jungkwan also offer improved offices, training facilities and access to recreation areas that are free from downtown pollution." [18/12/07]
