Moscow: Russian shipping company Sovcomflot has placed orders worth US $320m with South Korean shipyards for the delivery of four 159,000 tonne crude oil tankers. Two of the Suezmax vessels are to be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and will be delivered by January 2011. The other two tankers - to be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HII) - are to join the fleet by 2012. Sovcomflot recently recieved two 26,400 dwt LPG carriers - SCF Tobolsk and SCF Tomsk, also built HII. Local papers have reported that the company is considering ordering three additional tankers.
