Mumbai: Krishnapatnam Port has established a new record for coal discharge in India using the conventional system of coal unloading.
The vessel MV. IKAN KEDEWAS called the port on 26th August and the discharge commenced at 12:40 hrs. Within 24 hrs. 55,374 tonnes of coal was unloaded from the vessel for importer JSW Steel. The feat surpassed Krishnapatnam Port's previous all-India record of 42,756 tonnes which was set on 2nd May 2010.
Krishnapatnam is a private port offering year-round, 24/7 operations at 8 berths with a deep draught of 14.2 mtrs capable of handling Capesize & Panamax vessels. [01/09/10]
