Leading liner alliances link up for Asia to Black Sea service

Shanghai: A new jointly operated weekly service from Asia to the Black Sea launching in mid-June 2008, will formalise the slot exchange co-operation in place by two major shipping alliances servicing the route.  The member lines of the Grand Alliance (Hapag-Lloyd, MISC Berhad, NYK and OOCL) and The New World Alliance (MOL, APL, and Hyundai Merchant Marine) had been co-operating with a slot exchange on their respective fortnightly services to the Black Sea since February this year.

Eight 5,000teu vessels will be deployed on the service of which five will be operated by Grand Alliance member lines and three by The New World Alliance.

Port rotation for the Black Sea service is: Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Suez, Istanbul, Constanza, Odessa, Constanza, Istanbul, Damietta, Suez, Jeddah, Singapore, Shanghai.  [25/06/08]
