Macau ferry, Chinese freighter crash off HK

Macau ferry, Chinese freighter crash off HK
Yet another accident took place in Hong Kong's waters as a high-speed Macau ferry collided with a mainland China cargo vessel off Cheung Chau Island in the southwest of the territory late on Wednesday night.

The Macau ferry, which suffered damage to its starboard forward area, later made its way to the terminal on Hong Kong Island, while the Chinese vessel was still at the scene, local police were reported as saying.

Dozens of passenger ferries run between Hong Kong and Macau every day while the Lamma Channel to the west of Hong Kong is one of the world's busiest shipping lanes, seeing heavy traffic going both into Hong Kong's port as well as the Pearl River Delta ports to its west.
