Maersk boxship aground off Singapore

Singapore: Maersk Kendal, a 57,600 dwt container ship belonging to AP Moller Maersk's UK subsidiary, the Maersk Company Ltd, is aground near Singapore. No one is hurt, and there are no reports of spillage of oil from the ship.
The 6,200 teu ship was on its way westward in the international sea route to Singapore en route to the Port of Tanjung Pelepas early Wednesday morning when it ran aground 700 meters south of Sebarok island, Danish maritime web site maritimedanmark.dk reports.
According to Maersk the container ship is in a stable condition, and the company is in contact with a salvage company to get the ship assistance. There are no reports of injuries aboard the big container, and there is no reported spillage of oil from the grounded ship. [17/09/09]
