Copenhagen: Danish liner AP Moller Maersk is reported to be in negotiations for the purchase of container terminals in New Zealand to guarantee stability in its services to and from the region. The purchase is expected to improve the turnaround timescale for vessels calling at ports in the area as Maersk would have exclusive access and complete control over terminal operations. This is of particular importance to the liner company due to the heavy port congestion that plagues both Australian and New Zealand ports. [10/04/07]
