Maersk cuts ‘daily’ service to five times a week
Singapore: “Daily Maersk” between Asia and Europe has been cut to five times a week with Danish lines’ latest round of capacity cuts on the trade.

The service launched a year ago shook-up the Asia – Europe trade by offering a daily service with a guaranteed transportation time between key ports in Asia and Europe.

“No, a year after its launch, the ‘Daily’ tag has become somewhat of a misnomer as the number of weekly departures has been cut to five following Maersk’s announcement last week that it will suspend the AE-9 service from October to early December due to weak volumes,” analyst Alphaliner said in its weekly newsletter.

It noted the Danish line said the service suspensions would not impact the Daily Maersk service with its guaranteed transportation times.
