Shanghai: Maersk Line has announced plans to launch an improved Asia - Europe container network in April. "Our new Asia - Europe network will offer exporters and importers more direct calls and enhanced transit times, especially between North/East China and Europe," said Peter Frederiksen, Maersk senior vp. "An example is Shanghai to Bremerhaven in 21 days which will provide our customers with the best transit time in that market."
The restructured Asia - Europe network will additionally feature enhanced coverage of the markets in the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea with two services calling at Istanbul (Turkey), Piraeus and Thessaloniki (Greece), Constantza (Romania) and Ilychevesk (Ukraine).
Maersk also plans to increase its capacity by 13% by deploying larger tonnage along their westbound routes during 2007 to meet an estimated increase in demand. [09/01/07]
