Copenhagen: A.P.Moller - Maersk Group's tanker division Maersk Tankers, Transpetrol Maritime Services and Zodiac Maritime Agencies have signed an agreement to form a pool combining their fleets of Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs).
The new pool is slated to manage 14 modern VLGCs by 2011.
Maersk Tankers currently operates eight vessels and plans to raise this number to nine by 2011. Transpetrol will add two newbuildings to the pool during 2009, and Zodiac, which manages three other newbuildings, will enter the pool during 2010/2011.
Maersk Tankers will operate the pool and act as the commercial manager, who will undertake all daily commercial and operational tasks, including fixing vessels, voyage execution, post-fixture operations, and demurrage/claims procedures, [12/06/08]
