Magsaysay-Mitsui OSK Marine marks 10th anniversary

Tokyo: Philippines based Magsaysay-Mitsui OSK Marine (MMOM), MOL's core manning subsidiary, yesterday celebrated the 10th anniversary of its foundation in Manila. The company was established as a joint venture between MOL and its Philippine partner Magsaysay Maritime Corporation in March 1997.

MOL, which maintains strict safety and operating standards, operates manning companies and training centers all over the world, to help recruit, train, and develop high-quality seafarers for the company' operated vessels.

The ceremony attracted about 400 people including administration officials from the Japanese and Philippine governments, and others involved in Philippine seafarer policies. At the event, MOL President Akimitsu Ashida (pictured) made a speech thanking everyone involved in the training of Filipino mariners and highlighted the importance of the seafarers' roles in the group operation. Since its inception, MMOM has assigned over 20,000 Philippine seafarers to MOL operated vessels.  [21/02/07]
