Tokyo: American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has announced that Hitoshi Matsumoto (Pictured) is to take over from Ken Okabayashi as country manager for the classification society's activities in Japan, effective 1 September. Okabayashi, who is retiring from day-to-day responsibilities after 14 years in the position, will remain in the newly created position of business director, focusing on maintaining the close relationships with ABS clients in Japan and also identifying potential new areas of activity for the society.
