Seoul: South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co, the world's third-largest shipbuilder by sales, said it has secured US$900m worth of orders for four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.
This means the company has hit its 2007 target for new orders ahead of schedule.
The shipbuilder said state-owned Angolan oil company Sonangol EP has ordered three LNG carriers and an unidentified European ship owner has ordered one. It did not disclose the value of each contract.
The vessels will be delivered by December 2011. Samsung Heavy Industries is expected to announce that it has bagged the other four Angolan orders in the tender. [2/11/07]
