Tokyo: Mitsui OSK Lines has signed a contract to build four very large gas carriers at Japanese yards. Three of 83,000 cubic metre capacity have been assigned to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries while Kawasaki Shipbuilding will construct the fourth vessel with a capacity of 80,000 cubic metres. One of the vessels will be owned by a joint venture with Oman Shipping Co, the establishment of which was announced in June. In addition, three 82,000 cubic metreVLGCs ordered by Cido (HK) at Hyundai Heavy Industries have been taken on long term charter. The Japanese shipping giant has a fleet of 11
