MOL delivers first Japanese imported biomass fuel

Tokyo: Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Group chemical tanker operator - Tokyo Marine - has delivered the first biomass fuel ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE) ever imported to Japan. The 19,997dwt vessel Ginga Lanner discharged its cargo in Yokohama.

This shipment of ETBE was imported for verification testing by the Japan Biofuels Supply LLP - an organization that jointly procures and supplies bio ethanol and bio ETBE to ensure Japan's target for introducing bio ethanol in 2010. The project is backed by major oil companies.

In a statement, the MOL Group said that it "continues to work proactively on the transport of biomass fuels, which are expected to be in great demand as environment-friendly fuel sources".  [11/04/07]
