MOL hikes US to Asia dry cargo rates

Tokyo: MOL has announced that effective December 5, 2009, the company will increase ocean freight rates for all dry cargo originating in the United States and exported to Asia as follows:

General Cargo originating from US West Coast, Inland Points and East Coast ports to Asia will see a rate increase of:

20-foot Standard Containers  $120
40-foot Standard Containers  $150
40-foot High-Cube Containers  $150
45-foot Standard Container  $170

MOL (America) Inc. Executive Vice President Tsuyoshi Yoshida cited a continued strong demand for export cargo from North America: "Our tight inventory, incremental repositioning and an increase of fuel costs among other factors requires us to take this action," said Yoshida.  [05/11/09]
