Tokyo: Mitsui OSK Lines is hosting a series of three safety conferences as part of a groupwide effort to reinforce the safe operation management structure. The first two conferences were held this week in Mumbai on January 15, 2007 and in Manila on January 17. A third is slated for Zadar, Croatia, on January 30. MOL deputy president Hidehiro Harada (pictured) and Marine Management Division staff responsible for marine safety attended the conferences, inviting between 60 and 100 MOL Group seafarers to each session for an in-depth explanation of the new safety program. They also exchanged opinions with seafarers on improving the safety of MOL Group fleet operations.
MOL has repeatedly stressed its commitment to enhanced safety following a string of serious marine accidents involving four of their vessels that began last April. Under the direction of President Ashida, the company has returned to basics of safe operation and formulated steps to reinforce its safe operation management structure. [17/01/07]
