Singapore: BIMCO secretary general Carsten Melchiors (pictured) is among latest additions to the line-up of speakers for the Sea Asia conference being held in Singapore April 2-4.
Melchiors will moderate a Charterers' Forum taking place on the afternoon of the first day. His participation at the Sea Asia event coincides with a special conference session aimed at younger members of the shipping fraternity being organised in association with BIMCO 39, the international shipping association's sub-group for the under-40s.
Meanwhile, the conference will kick off with a special session on The Asian Voice of World Shipping on the morning of the opening day. Confirmed speakers include: U-Ming chairman Douglas Hsu, STX PanOcean president and ceo Jong-Chul Lee, Indian National Shipowners Assn president (and Varun md) Yudhishthir Khatau, BW Shipping md Andreas Sohmen Pao, PIL md SS Teo and IMC chairman Fred Tsao. Panama Canal Authority administrator Alberto Aleman will also deliver a special address aimed at Asian users of the Canal. [04/01/07]
