Mumbai: The fourth annual India Shipping Summit (ISS), set for the end of this month, will see government figures rubbing shoulders with international commercial leaders in a vibrant cross-border networking environment. Â
Running 29 September - 1 October at Grand Hyatt Mumbai, the Summit will address key themes at local and global levels. India's future as a global maritime player, finance to help it enter a new era, infrastructure opportunities, and the offshore oil and gas markets will be in full focus. Â
Other topics under the spotlight will be shipbuilding in India, maritime technology and the changing regulatory arena, energy transportation and the industry's crewing crisis. The Summit will also feature a series of special Open House Debates and For/Against votes. Â
More than 30 international speakers will address the Summit. Joining senior representatives of India's Ministry of Shipping will be Sabyasachi Hajara - President of the Indian National Shipowners' Association and concurrent Chairman of Shipping Corporation of India), Tony Mason - Secretary General of the International Chamber of Shipping and International Shipping Federation, Yudhishthir Khatau - Managing Director of Varun Shipping, J.O. Espinoza Ferrey - IMO's head of policy and planning, David Gilmour - Director of Marine Lubricants at BP plc, and Capt. Rajesh Tandon - Managing Director of V.Ships India.
