Sydney: A joint venture between Mitsubishi Development and Murchison Metals has been selected as the preferred proponent to develop a major new cape size port facility at Oakajee north of Geraldton in the mid-west region of Western Australia to serve the mid-west region's burgeoning iron ore industry.
The project would also see the construction of new dedicated rail infrastructure for transportation of locally mined iron ore to the port for export. A number of interests held by Murchison including its 50%-owned mining venture Crosslands Resources Limited, are slated to be key customers.
Murchison said they would now move to finalise the development agreement with the Government that will underpin the development of the required transport infrastructure. [30/07/08]
