N-KOM secures $19m floating jetty contract
N-KOM, the Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine joint venture shipyard, in Qatar has secured a QAR69m ($19m) contract for a floating jetty for Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC).

The jetty will serve as an offloading point for building materials, able to handle an annual capacity of 7.8m tonnes of aggregates. N-KOM will provide procurement, engineering, installation and construction services for the jetty, slated for completion in 2015.

“We believe this contract will contribute towards the further strengthening of our business ties as well as our capabilities to support Qatar’s construction boom,” said QPMC chairman Abdulaziz Al-Ansari, “By distributing gabbro storage areas within the state and to facilitate traffic routes between Doha and Mesaieed used by truck’s gabbro transportation and convert them to other areas less dense traffic.”
