Nacks lands order to build two car carriers
Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering (Nacks) has won an order to build two dual-fuel LNG pure car and truck carriers (PCTC) for United European Car Carriers (UECC).

The 3,800 ceu ships are scheduled for delivery from the shipyard in the second half of 2016. The ships are expected to be deployed in European waters and the Baltic Sea.

Nacks claimed that the new vessels will be the world's largest dual-fuel powered PCTCs ever built.

The ships will be the first PCTCs that will be able to complete a 14-day round voyage in the Baltic using solely LNG fuel for main engine and auxiliary power generation.

The shipbuilder also believed that the latest deal with UECC will help to reinforce its position as one of the leading Chinese yards in the area of constructing LNG-powered vessels.

UECC, jointly owned by Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Wallenius Lines, is primarily a short-sea operator and logistics provider for transportation of cars, vans, and heavy cargo in Europe.
