Nakilat signs long-term LNG agreements

Doha: The Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) has bagged new 25-year timecharters for eight LNG carriers from Qatar Petroleum. The eight 'Q-Flex' and 'Q-Max' type vessels are to be built by Korean shipyards Daewoo and Samsung and are due for delivery between October 2009 and February 2010. The new ships will service the Qatargas 4 project at Ras Laffan, which is expected to produce about 7.8m tons annually when it launches in 2010. Upon delivery, Nakilat's wholly-owned large LNG fleet will increase to 25 carriers. The company also owns part of an additional 29 LNG vessels.  [16/02/07]
