The offshore vessels builder sold one 5,000-dwt PSV equipped with DP2 features to repeat customer Bumi Armada, and one 6,000-bhp AHTS vessel to a new customer based in Vietnam.
The shipbuilder also sold one 5,000-bhp AHTS vessel to Time Marine Services, a repeat customer based in Malaysia.
In addition, Nam Cheong secured the sale of a 200-men accommodation work vessel (AWV), equipped with DP2 system, to a joint venture company of the group, co-owned with Singapore-based Marco Polo Marine.
Marco Polo Marine and Nam Cheong have formed a joint venture company following the sale of Marco Polo Marine group's 50% stake in Marco Polo Offshore to Nam Cheong on 19 August.
The newly formed joint venture then purchased the AWV and secured a long term five-year bareboat charter contract with an estimated value in excess of $27m, with two-year plus subsequent two-year further extension options which would result in a contract value of almost $50m.
All four vessels are being constructed as part of Nam Cheong's build-to-stock series in the group's subcontracted yards in China. The newbuildings are scheduled for delivery in 2014.
"With buoyant prospects in the OSV sector driven by rising rig count and strong utilisation rates, we see a preference for younger and more sophisticated vessels to support modern rigs, leading to icnreased requirements for larger AHTS," said Leong Seng Keat, ceo of Nam Cheong.
"With the securing of these four sales contracts, this has boosted Nam Cheong's orderbook to a total of 29 vessels worth approximately MYR2bn," he said.
