Dalian: On March 16, the naming ceremony was held for the two largest car carriers built in China to date. The pair, ordered by Norway's car carrier specialist Dyvi, and built at Samjin Shipbuilding Industry (SSI) in Weihai, Shandong province, are 199.90m in length, 32.26m wide and 34.55m high, and can carry 6,700 cars.
Construction of these two ships started in February last year. One is completed and entering its trail phrase for delivery in April, and the other is expected to start working in June this year. [18/03/09]
