Terminal operating system provider Navis has landed a huge new client in Cosco Shipping Ports (CSP).

The terminal operating technology and services unit of cargo and load handling solutions provider Cargotec said it had entered into a subscription agreement with CSP for Navis’ flagship N4 terminal operating system (TOS).

CSP is one of world's leading ports operators, operating and managing 269 berths (179 for containers) at 35 ports worldwide, with a combined annual handling capacity of approximately 103m teu.

With the N4 order, Cosco will replace its previous TOS solutions from other vendors in line with its goal to increase standardisation across its global portfolio, while aiming to further enhance the efficiency of its port operations.

CSP vice chairman and md Zhang Wei said: “We have made significant progress in our globalization and increasing control in port companies in 2017. While we continue to expand our world-class portfolio of assets, we are committed to providing quality and efficient services to customers at home and abroad. At CSP, we are dedicated to further enhancing our competitiveness by continuous improvement of the operating efficiency and sustainable development of the ports and terminals. We are happy to work with Navis, with its unmatched experience in terminal operating system and collaborative solutions; and with N4 serving as the brain and localized source of information for the day-to-day operation of our terminal business, we are better equipped to meet the needs of carriers and large container ships coming to call.”

Navis president Benoit de la Tour added: “We are continuing on our path towards large, strategic agreements with the biggest global terminal operators and shipping lines in the world and this partnership with CSP is an opportunity for Navis to deliver its leading innovation and global optimization services to an expanding network of terminals. The transformation from smaller, competing point solution vendors to Navis demonstrates CSP’s commitment to driving improved optimization and performance for a broad set of ocean trade entities.”
