New HK-Manila service from RCL

New HK-Manila service from RCL
Thailand's Regional Container Lines (RCL) is launching a new 1,000 teu shuttle service connecting Hong Kong and Manila north port.

The fortnightly RCL Hong Kong Manila shuttle (RHM) will deploy a single 1,000 teu vessel, and will start sailing with a Danu Bhum sailing from Hong Kong on 1 September.

RCL has further entered into a slot exchange agreement, with with Maersk Line's Asian regional feeder line MCC Transport’s existing Hong Kong and Manila, to begin with the maiden voyage.

“This new shuttle will complement our existing offerings from Singapore where we already offer connectivity to Manila, Batangas, Cebu and General Santos via Singapore,” said Charlie Chu, executive vp of business at RCL. “Our SOC and COC customers have told us that they will like the additional choice of connectivity via Hong Kong as well.  We are pleased that RHM will help address that requirement”.

RCL recently added a call at Batangas in the Philippines to its Singapore - Manila service following recent congestion at Manila port due to truck ban in the city centre of the Philippines capital.
