New vessel type for ASRY

Bahrain:  ASRY has launched its first service boat built for the KOTC (Kuwait Oil Tanker Co.) in an order worth over $4m. The boat is due for final delivery in mid-September, when it will be named by the chairmen of both companies. Taking about a year to complete, the vessel is the first example of a new design and the yard plans to further expand into this specialist field, along with greater penetration of the tugboat market. The new service boat is 35mtr long, with a breadth of 9mtr and is powered by two main engines driving twin screws, plus a bow thruster. Built to Lloyd's Register class, it can accommodate six crew and some twenty passengers. Its principle role will be as a service boat delivering potable water, necessary spares and provisions to KOTC's fleet of tankers and other vessels. [04/09/06]
