Tokyo: Nippon Steel has said it will raises prices of steel plates for shipbuilding from the second half of this financial year and has begun negotiations with leading Japanese shipbuilders. Local reports say the company may be proposing a hike of around Y5000 (approx $45) a tonne, to compensate for higher iron ore prices. [04/08/06]
