Somalia: The Singapore managers of the Norwegian owned tanker UBT Ocean hijacked by Somali pirates on March 5 have yet to make contact with the ship or its crew. The 9,000 dwt, 2008-built, chemical tanker UBT Ocean was hijacked on Friday enroute to Dar Es Salaam laden with a cargo of fuel oil. The vessel owned by Brovigtank has a crew of 21 Myanmar nationals onboard. A spokesman for UBT's Singapore-based manager, Ship Management Associates, said as of March 8 morning they had still be unable to make contact with the vessel or its crew. [08/03/10]
