Seoul: A group of North Korean officials on Thursday visited a major South Korean shipyard in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province.
The North Korean delegation toured Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's Okpo shipyard, one of the world's most advanced shipbuilding facilities.
Touring the world's largest dock in the shipyard, where Daewoo is building four 300-thousand-ton oil tankers simultaneously, the North Koreans peppered company officials with questions about shipbuilding process, taking notes and photographs of the facilities with digital cameras, local media reported.
This is a recipricol visit to the one paid by DSME and Samsung officials earlier this month scouting out possible shipyard sites in the Hermit Kingdom. A landmark first South Korean invested shipyard in the North could well be announced early next year. [27/12/07]
