Tokyo: On April 1, NYK established a new company, NYK Shipmanagement Japan.
NYKSM JP was established by renaming TMM Co. Ltd., which was a ship-management company jointly owned by NYK and Taiheiyo Kaiun Co. Ltd. (TKK), which itself became a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK last year. NYK purchased TKK's share in TMM prior to this arrangement.
Together with NYK's core ship-management subsidiary, NYK Shipmanagement Pte. Ltd. (head office: Singapore), NYKSM JP will manage small- to medium-sized oil tankers and other vessels, supply seafarers, and provide marine technical support to the NYK Group. [01/04/10]
