Tokyo: Minoru Sato (pictured), currently md of NYK Group Europe, will be promoted to evp of NYK, based at NYK's Head Office in Tokyo, effective April. Ian Veitch, ceo of NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd, is also to become a board member of NYK (in a non-executive role), the first European to do so since NYK's founding in 1885.
Meanwhile, Tom Boardley (formerly with P&O Ports) is promoted to md of NYK's liner operations in Europe, taking over from Kunihiko Miyoshi, who moves to a wider managing director role in Hong Kong, where he will be responsible for NYK's liner and logistics operations. The new md of NYK Group Europe Limited will be Masamichi Morooka, who is currently Head of NYK's global Liner Division.
"Today's NYK Board appointments further demonstrate the evolution of NYK from a traditional Japanese shipping company towards a global integrated logistics group," commented Mr Sato, who henceforth will be responsible for NYK Global Logistics Headquarters, encompassing NYK's global liner, logistics, RoRo and terminal operations. [23/02/07]
