Tokyo: Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) run LNG vessel 'Broog' has been presented with Qatargas' Best Ship Award for 2006 (pictured). The award, given to only one of the 10 LNG vessels among Qatargas' long-term chartered fleet, is based on factors such as ship management, including safety equipment, condition of the engine room and deck, and management of documents required for port calls.
In a statement, NYK said "Broog rated well in all areas, and such excellent generally translates into a stable schedule." The Japanese company also announced that it was responsible for the running of four out of the top five Qatargas LNG vessels.
NYK added that it "will continue to provide specialized ship-management services in order to ensure safe and quality operations for the expanding NYK LNG fleet." The group currently operates about 740 major ocean vessels of which 20 are LNG carriers. The group announced $18bn in revenues last year. [26/06/07]
