Tokyo: Nippon Yusen Kaisha has been put on a list of 100 most sustainable corporations in the world. It is the only Japanese shipping company on the list, a position recognising its capacity to address environmental, social, and governance factors that affect business opportunities and risk management.
The Global 100 list, based on research and ratings compiled by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors and Corporate Knights, is released at the World Economic Forum in Davos every year. NYK received an AAA rating from Innovest in the industrials sector, which covers land transportation, marine transportation, and warehousing services.
In a statement, NYK said that it "considers the award an encouragement as it strives to further promote CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities through cooperation among NYK Group companies". [08/02/07]
