The 2006-built, 88,266-dwt bulker Tete Oldendorff will be converted into a transloader and renamed Anna Oldendorff.
Anna Oldendorff, with the conversion expected to be completed in the summer of 2017, will replace the 2008-built E. Oldendorff in the company’s Arabian Gulf transhipment operations, primarily for Emirates Steel.
The conversion process involves installing generators, three-side mounted Liebherr MPG cranes on deck together with hoppers, conveyor belts and unloading booms. The superstructure will also be increased to accommodate an additional 16 persons. The conversion will add about 2,500 metric tonnes of new steel to the vessel.
Olderndorff has also signed a contract with Chengxi Shipyard to install side mounted cranes on the 2013-built, 75,053-dwt Trina Oldendorff.
