The 14,053 teu, 364 metres in length, ONE Columba called at Hutchison Ports Thailand's Terminal D at Laem Chabang.
The first 14,000 teu class containership to call in Thailand was handled by remote-controlled quay cranes at Terminal D handling 2,269 containers for loading onto the vessel.
The initial phase of Terminal D will be operational early next year and once fully completed it will add 3.5m teu in capacity to Laem Chabang Thailand's largest container port.
The terminal will be equippe with 17 super post panamax quay cranes and 43 electric rubber tyred gantry cranes all of which will be remote-controlled.
Hutchison Ports currently operates terminals A2, A3, C1, C2 at Laem Chabang and is now developing for operation, D1, D2 and D3.
