Panay hit by oil spill

Iloilo City: The Philippines' worst ever oil spill continues to spread across the Visayas region with the island of Panay now reporting oily sludge has washed up on its beaches. 12 days after the Solar I tanker chartered by Petron Corp, the largest oil refiner in the Philippines, sunk off the island of Guimaras, an average of 100-200 litres of oil continues to gush every hour, officials said.  [23/08/06]
