The agreement was signed by PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago and Port and Shipping Authority of Haikou City director general Lin Jian.
Under the agreement, the two bodies will be able to share experience and expertise in the areas of port development and maintenance, port management, port operations and trade cargo, port safety and disaster prevention, port environmental issues, as well as other areas of cooperation.
The agreement is only the second to be signed by the PPA with a China port. It has a similar agreement for the ports of Manila and Davao with Guangzhou to facilitate shipments of goods between the ports.
The PPA also has similar deals with Incheon Port in South Korea, the Ports of Kobe and Yokohama in Japan, Port of Cork in Ireland, and Port of San Francisco.
