Damen has completed delivery in Rotterdam of 12 built-stock pontoons and tugs manufactured at its yards in Asia.

The newbuilds arrived on the SAL Heavy Lift vessel Svenja which set sail from Shanghai at the end of August with pontoons from Damen Yichang Shipyard. From Shanghai the Svenja sailed to Vietnam where it was loaded with six tugs that were built at Damen Song Cam Shipyard before beginning its voyage to Rotterdam.

“We encountered some heavy weather en route from Vietnam, but all the vessels have been safely and smoothly unloaded here in Rotterdam,” commented Damen service coordinator heavy lift, Rimmert Berlijn. “We would like to thank the crew of the Svenja for all their excellent work in the loading and unloading process and, of course, their seamanship skills.”

By delivering 12 vessels together to Europe from its yards in Asia Damen is able to keep down delivery costs. Being built-to-stock the pontoons and tugs are ready to meet Damen’s clients needs at short notice.
