Singapore: Pacific International Lines is to partner Wan Hai Lines in its fixed-day Far East - US West Coast weekly container service. As of March 17, PIL will supply one vessel to the joint service, which will now be operated by five 2,500teu vessels, to be replaced at a later date with ships of a higher capacity.
WHL has been operating the service on an independent basis since mid 2001, offering a round voyage of 35 days on the following port rotation: Xiamen - Yantian - Hong Kong - Kaohsiung - Long Beach - Oakland - Xiamen.
PIL plans to incorporate a subsidiary company in the USA from February 2007 in order to provide local support to its customers and has also appointed Norton Lilly as its US agent. [14/02/07]
