Singapore: Pacific International Lines is launching a multi-purpose service between China and Africa in March. The service will call Xingang, Shanghai, Huangpu in China and Durban, Tema, Lome and Lagos in Africa on a monthly basis. PIL will be deploying four chartered in 20,000 dwt multi-purpose vessels on the service with the first sailing from Xingang on March 25. "The service will be upgraded to provide a wider market coverage and increased frequency at a later date," PIL said. The service effectively sees PIL come full circle the company having started out operating multi-purpose services back in 1967 before moving into container. [05/03/10]
